DIY Bass-Pedal - more than only bass
DIY Basspedal, hergestellt aus einem ausgehöhltem Basspedal (eBay-Schnapper) einer ausrangierten Orgel. Original Hersteller der leeren Hülle ist nicht bekannt.
Ich habe einen µController vom Typ ATMEL ATtiny4313 verbaut, der die einzelnen Tastenkontakte erfasst sowie MIDI-in und MIDI-out bedient. Die Software wurde in Assembler selbst erstellt.
Das Pedal verfügt nun über eine Vielzahl von Presets, die ich je nach Song live abrufen kann. Je nach Preset werden Basstöne (mal oktaviert, mal nicht) als auch pro Taste programmierbare Notenkombinationen über MIDI ausgegeben.
Bass als auch Akkordnoten können jeweils über unterschiedliche MIDI Kanäle ausgegeben werden, was durch das Preset je nach Song flexibel ist. Die MIDI Velocity kann ebenfalls unterschiedlich vordefiniert werden. Zudem kann die Velocity über einen Volume Befehl live variiert werden. Eine optionale Hold-Funktion rundet das wunscherfüllte Herz vollends ab.
Super geeignet, wenn man z.B. zweihändiges Klavierspiel mit soften Flächen plus stemmigen Bassnoten unterfüttern möchte, was z.B. bei Sakura Tree [2002] zum Einsatz kommt.
Das DIY Basspedal mit nicht kaufbaren Features verwende ich in meinem Setup in Kombination mit einer programmierbaren MIDI Patchbay von MOTU (MIDI Express XT) und lässt in Sachen MIDI Routing damit keine Wünsche mehr offen. Das Basspedal habe ich erstmal bei der Transfiction-CD-Präsentation 2015 erfolgreich live zum Einsatz gebracht.

I have built in a µController ATMEL ATtiny4313 that permanently checks the key switches and deals with MIDI IN and OUT commands. The software has been developed in bare assembler.
The pedal has a great number of presets that I can recall for each song in a live setting. Depending on the preset the pedal can send bass notes (with and without octaves) and chords that can be programmed for each key pedal individually.
Bass notes and chords cansend via different MIDI channels so that each preset is very flexible even within a song. MIDI velocity can also be pre-defined individually. Moreover, velocity can be controlled by MIDI volume command as well. An optional hold functions rounds off the set of features.
Well suited if you play piano with two hands with soft pads in the background and you still want to add a hearty subbass. You can hear this for example in Sakura Tree [2002].
I use this bass pedal (with features that you cannot buy) in combination with a programmable MIDI patchbay by MOTU (MIDI Express XT). This setup leaves nothing to be desired in terms of MIDI routing. The bass pedal was first used for the Transfiction CD presentation gig in 2015.
